An 11-year-old boy was able to hack into a replica of a Florida voting website in 10 minutes during a hackers convention.
He manage to change the name of the winning candidate on the website to his own and give himself billions of votes.
This particular hack has raised concern over the security of the electoral systems. With many believing that the system has many vulnerabilities.
While welcoming the efforts of the convention, the National Association of Secretaries of State, which is responsible for tallying votes, said there would be additional protections in the actual systems used by states.
The association said: “It would be extremely difficult to replicate these systems since many states utilize unique networks and custom-built databases with new and updated security protocols.”
