RE: URGENT PETITION REGARDING THE UNAUTHORIZED OR UNCOORDINATED USE OF FOREIGN KINETIC FORCE ON NIGERIAN SOIL.
Distinguished/Honorable Members,
We write to you as concerned citizens and activists to invoke your oversight powers regarding the US airstrikes in Sokoto State on December 25, 2025. Sections 4 and 5 of the 1999 Constitution vest the security and sovereignty of this nation in the hands of the Federal Government, overseen by this hallowed chamber.
We request that the National Assembly urgently summons the Minister of Defense and the National Security Adviser (NSA) to answer the following:
1.Authorization Protocol.
Was there a specific, written request for this strike from the Nigerian government, or was this a unilateral “Unwilling or Unable” doctrine application by the United States?
- Target Discrepancy.
Why does the US narrative focus on “Christian Genocide” while our domestic security reports focus on “Banditry”? This ideological gap puts our national social fabric at risk of sectarian division. - Civilian Harm Mitigation: Given the history of “erroneous airstrikes” in the North (notably the Rann and Tudun Biri tragedies), what measures were taken to ensure Nigerian civilians were not killed by foreign bombs?
The silence or secondary role of the Nigerian military in the announcement of these strikes is a slight to our national pride and a danger to our constitutional order. We urge the House to demand a full “After-Action Report” to be made public.
Sincerely,
Comrade, IG Wala,
NICIP.
