UNIEC WORLDWIDE ISSUES PUBLIC DISCLAIMER AND WARNING NOTICE AGAINST IMPERSONATORS
Enugu, Nigeria — October 25, 2025
The United Igbo Elders Council (UNIEC) Worldwide has issued a strong public disclaimer and warning notice over the activities of certain individuals and groups parading themselves under the misleading name “United Igbo Elders Congress Worldwide” and other similar variants, falsely claiming affiliation with the Council.
According to the statement from the Office of the Director-General, the United Igbo Elders Council (UNIEC) Worldwide remains the only authentic, duly constituted, and globally recognized apex assembly of Igbo Elders, operating under the leadership of His Lordship, Justice Alpha Ikpeama, Director-General, with a global mandate to promote unity, integrity, and development among Ndigbo.
The statement cautioned that any person or group conducting activities, issuing letters, or making public representations under the name “United Igbo Elders Congress Worldwide”, or any other imitation of UNIEC, is engaging in acts of criminal impersonation, misrepresentation, and public deceit. Such persons shall be duly reported to the appropriate law enforcement authorities for investigation and prosecution.
The Council further warned the general public, corporate institutions, government agencies, and the media to desist from dealing with, recognizing, or granting audience to any such fraudulent groups or individuals.
It reiterated that all official communications, documents, and representations of UNIEC Worldwide bear the Council’s official name, logo, reference number, and authorized signatures issued strictly from the National Secretariat.
CLARIFICATION ON IDENTITY AND REPRESENTATION
In a related development, the Council has raised a crucial question for public clarification:
Are the said individuals operating under the name “United Igbo Elders Congress Abuja” or purporting to represent “United Igbo Elders Congress Worldwide”?
This clarification, the Council stated, is imperative to dispel all forms of contradiction, misrepresentation, and confusion regarding organizational identity and legitimacy.
The United Igbo Elders Council (UNIEC) Worldwide therefore demands a definitive and truthful response to establish the facts and uphold the Council’s integrity, dignity, and leadership mandate among Ndigbo globally.
