In a significant boost to his campaign, the Obidient Movement Ekiti State Chapter has officially declared its support for Amb. Dare Patrick Bejide as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election. The endorsement aims to “liberate Ekiti and change the ugly narrative” of governance in the state, according to movement leaders.

The declaration took place during a meeting attended by key figures, including Rt. Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan, the State Publicity Secretary and representative of the ADC State Working Committee (SWC). Also present was Dr. Dele Ekunola, the former State Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The Obidient Movement delegation was led by Comrade Olamidotun Emmanuel who represented the state coordinator Barr. Benjamin Akomolafe, other exco present was the State General Secretary; Afolabi Olaiya, State Director of Communications and New Media; and coordinators from all local governments.
Welcoming the group, Rt. Hon. Aribisogan admonished the members to be prepared for the challenges ahead, emphasizing the importance of unity and readiness in the pursuit of electoral victory.
Amb. Dare Patrick Bejide, the aspiring governor, warmly received the movement into the ADC fold, highlighting their new status as stakeholders. He noted that this integration comes on the heels of His Excellency Peter Obi’s declaration for the party on December 31, 2025. Bejide urged the group to validate their memberships, obtain party cards from their wards, and actively engage in grassroots mobilization.
The major goal of the party is to win the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state on June 20, 2026,” Bejide stated. “The time is now to take over from those who share our commonwealth among themselves.”
Bejide further assured the Obidient Movement of the party’s commitment to inclusivity and gender sensitivity, declaring that there are “no newcomers” in the ADC—everyone is equal and should fulfill their duties. He emphasized that contributions during the election would determine roles in future state congresses and other party activities.
In response, The state general Secretary Emmanuel Olamidotun who spoke on behalf of the state coordinator Assured The ADC of total and unreserved support for the forthcoming guber election he also call on all members of the group across the local government to go get their ADC membership Card to prepare for the task ahead. Also speaking Mr Oyinleye martins, the Deputy Coordinator of Ekiti Central expressed gratitude on behalf of the movement for the reception received from ADC, stating that Ambassador Dare Has a track record that speaks value, he stated that his time has the Ekiti SSG and his Time as Ambassador to Canada was without scandal and very impactful therefore positioning him as the best choice of Ekiti people. Additionally, Mr. Nicholas Oyiogu, the State Director of Non-Indigenes, assured the mobilization of non-indigenous residents to booster support ahead of the polls.
This endorsement underscores a growing influence of the ADC in Ekiti state and Nigeria positioning Bejide as a frontrunner in the race to unseat the incumbent administration.
Political analysts suggest that the Obidient Movement’s grassroots strength, combined with Peter Obi’s national influence, could significantly alter the dynamics of the 2026 election in Ekiti State.
As the campaign heats up, Bejide’s team is expected to ramp up efforts to address key issues such as economic development, infrastructure, and equitable resource distribution, aligning with the movement’s vision for a transformed Ekiti.
