EXPIRED TENURE: Why Is Dr. Alex Maiangwa Still CMD of Taraba State Specialist Hospital?
Dr. Alex Maiangwa was first appointed Chief Medical Director of Taraba State Specialist Hospital Jalingo on 20/12/2015 for a five year term.
His tenure was renewed on 20/12/2020 for another five years, which legally EXPIRED on 20/12/2025.
But he continues to report to work, issue directives and act as CMD illegally.
Under his watch, Taraba Specialist Hospital was left to rot; facilities deteriorated, essential equipment remains non functional and patients have suffered for a decade of mismanagement. Ten years wasted, yet he still refuses to vacate office.
Governor Agbu Kefas has approved a successor but credible sources say a powerful individual from Sardauna LGA within the administration is blocking the handover by ensuring Dr. Maiangwa remains in office.
Let it be known that hospitals are not private estates, government offices are not inherited and tenure is not eternal.
Any continuation beyond the lawful term undermines due process, integrity and public trust.
We will monitor this closely and any public servant collecting salary after his tenure expires will be reported to ICPC and EFCC.
