It was during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day parade in Kebbi state. Soldiers lined up to receive greetings from the Governor of the state, Nasir Idris.

The Governor, led by the commanding General, took a tour of the military personnel on parade.

Towards the end of the line are some disabled military personnel, in active service. They were victims of terrorist attacks. While some lost their hands, others’ legs were amputated.

The General showed them to the Governor while detailing their plight and making a case that they needed help. The Governor, very casually, without a slight expression of remorse or sympathetic emotion, just said, “Just tell me the cost of the prosthesis,” and he moved on.

These were men of the Armed Forces who lost major parts of their bodies in active service. The Governor could barely pause to show sympathy or interact with them to find out their needs.

This captures the heart of the average Nigerian politician. They have terrible cold hearts!✍️
