Though it’s the wish of most parents to have their children marry within their culture, because they assume it could make the marriage easier to deal, it’s not always the case. It seems similar episodes are headed to the church. Let us also learn from churches that have done so in the past.
Church denominations were established for administrative convenience. It’s not scriptural to insist that a church denomination must marry only itself. Growing up in the Southeast, we saw a lot of this from a particular church denomination within the region. This is not the word of God.
Remember, it’s one Lord, one Spirit, and one baptism.
It’s the Church of Christ, and there are no denominations in heaven. Christ is not divided.
The pastor might be suggesting that church members marry themselves because of doctrine adaptations, especially where leadership is concerned, but leadership schools could be established for pastors’ wives to help them adapt to the system.
Who and where pastors marry from is very important to church leadership.
