Abba Yussuf left NNPP because he couldn’t stand Kwankwanso’s bullying

Still on Abba Yusuf

It’s obvious that Abba is concealing more than he is revealing the compelling reasons he had to quit the NNPP and part company with kwankwaso. Of course, kwankwaso contributed to Abba’s politcal career. But Abba was also loyal to kwankwaso to a point of self-abasement. He had to publicly behave like a poodle dog or like a clingy toddler tied to his mother’s apron strings to prove his loyalty. In fact, many people were unhappy why Abba had to sacrifice his own self-esteem to prove loyalty.

So, I refuse to believe that Abba was disloyal to kwankwaso. His reasons for leaving could be more compelling than what he is publicly willing to reveal out of sheer courtesy to Madugu. By nature, the goat🐐is a tame animal; it doesn’t bite. But the day it chooses to bite you, it’s your fault.

Abba knew the political risks he was taking. Which means the picture is more complicated than what we’re seeing the surface. Every relationship requires reciprocation. So, loyalty also requires reciprocation too.

Imagine a situation where you’re a Gov. but all your appointees were imposed on you by the godfather. Imagine a situation where your own deputy Gov. is loyal to the godfather at your own expense. Imagine a situation where you had no role to nominate candidates for elective offices. Is a Gov not a stakeholder in his own right?

We are emotional animals; we can be hurt by silent humiliations. Some victims resort to passive-aggressive behaviour to avoid direct confrontation out of courtesy. Some people may vote with their own feet to express a grudge. The truths most of the times lies in what is not revealed.

You knew you have treated your loyal cook unfairly, but he always pretends all is well, despite suffering in silence. Silence, they say, is the loudest cry. Before you accuse a man being a betrayer, put yourself in their own shoes.

Abba is not a kid. He knew the risk he took. He may have stronger reasons for his decision beyond what we can see on the surface. You may look powerful because you’re a Gov, but still be a victim of intrigues.

Abba avoided drama, despite his grudges out of sheer respect for the Madugu. Imagine a situation where the man you served obsequiously was plotting your own downfall. When you see the red flag🚩, do you wait until you feel the knife in your own neck?

When former Deputy Aliyu Wamakko uncovered a plot by Bafarawara to remove him from office by impeachment, Wamakko voluntarily resigned, making his enemies look stupid. Wamakko is gentle to a fault. He took it in stride and moved to PDP from ANPP. The rest is history.

Na ALLAH Muhammad Zagga.
