The All Progressives Congress (APC) has ignited fresh controversy ahead of its March 27–28, 2026 national convention after abruptly removing Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as Chairman of the National Convention Central Coordination Committee.
In a statement signed by the party’s National Secretary, Surajudeen Basiru, and shared on the APC’s official X page on Friday, the ruling party announced a sudden reconstitution of the powerful committee, replacing Uzodimma with former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari.

The party attributed the shake-up to “further consultation with the leadership and national stakeholders,” a phrase that has sparked speculation over internal disagreements and power realignments within the APC as the convention approaches.
Uzodimma, who was previously handed the chairmanship, was quietly pushed to the position of treasurer in the revised structure—an adjustment many party watchers see as a clear demotion rather than a routine reassignment.
