According to the DHQ, this comes following a formal request by the Nigerian government to the United States to support the Nigerian army in military training requirement, technical support and intelligence sharing.

The Nigerian government through DHQ also insists once more that the U.S. troops are “not combat forces” and serving strictly in an “advisory and training capacity”.

This confirms the third position where U.S. forces are now newly based in, the three confirmed airbases are Kainji, Bauchi and Maiduguri Airbases.
