The Arewa Nationality Movement (ANM) has said that it discovered a plan by desperate Yoruba politicians to instigate àttàcks against lgbos living in Kano, Nassarawa and Bauchi States.
In a statement signed by the group’s spokesman Hamza Mukhtar Wase and distributed to newsmen in Kano, the ANM condemn in it’s totality last week’s mássãçre against Northern MūsIîms perpetrated by éxtr̃emîst lgbo çhr̃istîan settlers in Portharcourt. It álso castigated lgbo and çhristían leaders who went mute amid the 72 hour day-light xéñophobic áttæcks.
The group said it got credible intelligence that some desperate Yoruba politicians are trying to take advantage of the situation to cause a rift between Hausas and lgbos as a political strategy to weaken Peter Obi’s support in the North and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s support in the core South ahead of the 2027 general election.
The group who said immediately after the incident, it observed a trend/pattern that cannot be ignored. APC-affiliated accounts on Facebook and Tiktok started lnstïgating Northeners against the lgbos, callîng for r̃evénge on innocent lgbós doing their businesses peacefully in the North. The group also claimed that all the self-styled faceless groups disguising themselves as “Arewa Youth” are Yoruba-sponsored groups who have the history of endorsing the ethnocentric rickety-old push-and-start president.
“This morning, we received intelligence reports that some desperate politicians affiliated with the Yoruba agenda has been mobilising hundreds of thūgs in Sabon Gari to àttáçk peaceful lgbo traders in the coming days. If at all they really care about Arewa lives, the mobilisation should be against báñdîts who did more dámage to Arewa and it’s majority mûslîm population. This raised questions about the real intention and agenda behind the move. Based on what we heard, some of these thûgs will be transported to a place called Mararraba in Nassarawa State and some areas in Bauchi State”.
“We call on lgbós living in the North to remain vigilant. We also call on Muslims and other lovers of peaceful coexistence to protect lnnocent lbos from thësé thûgs”.
“As muslïms, the legal and moral position of lslam is clear. The Qur’an in Chapter 6:164 explicitly stated that “No bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another.”. This means No person is punished for someone else’s sin. The Guilt is individual, not collective. Justice is based on personal responsibility.
“The Qur’an in 2:18 also wãrned us against unjust generalisation about groups “Do not let the hatred of a people cause you to be unjust. Be just; that is closer to righteousness.”. Assuming all members of a group are guilty is unislamic, sinful and unjust.
“It is among the highest form of Jïháɗ to protect the life, dignity and properties of your non-muslim neighbours. Prophet Muhammad may peace and blessing of Allah be upon him instructed us to honour our guests “Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his guest.”. The lgbo people are our guest and the responsibility of protecting them is religiously on our shoulders.” In another hadith, the prophet said “Whoever harms a non-Muslim under covenant , I will be his opponent on the Day of Judgment.”
