Today’s message is directed to the leaders and people of Kano, Jigawa, and Bauchi. This is not a time for complacency. It is a time for decisive action before emerging threats grow beyond control.
What has happened in other states is not fiction. Look at how insecurity has devastated lives and livelihoods in Katsina State, Zamfara State, Sokoto State, and Niger State.
Early warning signs were ignored. The threat was underestimated. Many assumed it would pass on its own. Today, the people are paying a heavy price.
States With the Responsibility to Prevent.
Kano State, Jigawa State, and Bauchi State are states rich in history, population, and economic strength. But none of these advantages will matter if security collapses.
Insecurity does not arrive with drums and trumpets. It begins quietly, with isolated attacks, hidden kidnappings, small criminal groups testing the waters. If not confronted early, they grow into a full-blown crisis.
What Must Be Done?
- Strengthen intelligence gathering, identify and neutralize threats before they destabilize communities.
- Promote cooperation between government and citizens, people must feel safe to share information.
- Equip security agencies with modern tools and adequate support.
- Engage and empower the youth unemployment can create openings for criminal recruitment.
- Act swiftly do not wait until lives are lost in large numbers.
An Important Warning
If negligence happens today, tomorrow people will say, “We should have known.”
If silence prevails today, tomorrow solutions will be sought in chaos.
Security is the foundation of development. Schools and hospitals cannot thrive in fear. Investment cannot survive where life is uncertain.
This is a direct appeal to the governors of these three states, members of the state assemblies, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and the youth: rise now.
Do not allow the experiences of other states to repeat themselves here. Time is moving. What is required is action, not promises.
