Operatives of the Edo State Police Command has arrested three suspects linked to the kidnapping and killing of 42-year-old Edafe Oghenekome in Ovia South-West Local Government Area of the state.

Oghenekome and Favor Ighasa were abducted from their residence in Utese Village near Udo Community on 4 February 2026. Ighasa regained her freedom five days later, but contact with the kidnappers over Oghenekome’s release subsequently stopped.

Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, operatives intensified investigations, leading to the arrest of Abdulsalam Mohammadu, 21, who reportedly exposed other members of the gang. Two additional suspects — Kehinde Adetunji, 45, identified as the group’s local informant, and Nasiru Yau, 24 — were also apprehended.

Police said the suspects confessed to their involvement in the abduction, ransom collection and the murder. Two AK-47 rifles and three Dane guns were recovered during the operation, while Oghenekome’s remains were later discovered in a forest in Iguobazuwa./Eons intelligence
