The Special Adviser on Narcotics and Illicit Drugs Monitoring, Hon Chief Ezechukwu N Obonna, paid a courtesy visit to the new Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Garuba Bosso, at the State Police Headquarters, Owerri.
The purpose of the visit was to seek the collaboration of the Imo State Police Command in the fight against the consumption and trafficking of illicit drugs in Imo State. Hon Obonna commended the professionalism of the Imo State Police Command and expressed his appreciation to the Commissioner of Police for accepting to work together with his office to reduce the consumption and circulation of illicit drugs in the state.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that drug consumption fuels crime, as most crimes are committed under the influence of drugs. Hon Obonna stressed that “To go after crime, one should start by going after drugs!” Both parties agreed to work together to tackle the menace of illicit drugs in Imo State.
The meeting aimed to strengthen the partnership between Imo State Government under the Office of the Special Adviser on Narcotics and Illicit Drugs Monitoring and the Imo State Police Command to combat the scourge of drug abuse and trafficking in the state.
