Jos killers are blood thirsty criminals using religion as cover/Eye Witness

We had to shut down the shop earlier and rush home because of the tension. I gave a lift to three of my colleagues that are all Muslims. When we got to Bauchi road, which is our safe zone, we met a large group of boys carrying sticks and machetes, stopping cars and smashing windscreens.

As I drove, I and my colleague in the front seat had to explain repeatedly before we were allowed to pass. At another point, those in the back had to properly identify themselves. They even opened the back door, trying to drag them out.

That’s the reality we are facing. The ignorance of one misguided element will just put an end to a precious life. We are all Muslims, yet we could have been killed by fellow muslims who are simply out for blood.

The point is, you and I on this platform are not the real problem, even though our posts escalate tensions. The real problem is those boys you see in videos, those who killed Haruna in Anguwan Rukuba, those who attacked the guy around main camp, and the ones we encountered today.

Check those videos closely and look at the kind of people carrying out these acts. Compare them with the same faces we complain about daily, the ones snatching phones, involved in cultism, and “sara suka.” They are the same people and they are the real problem.

I have said it before and I will keep saying it, any peace building effort by any NGO and government that does not address the miscreants in our communities will fail. From Anguwan rukuba to Gero junction, Bauchi road to faringada down to Nasarawa, there are hundreds of criminal minded boys. They are not truly defined by christianity or Islam, they were simply born into these identities and use them as cover for violence.

No matter the bigotry and hatred expressed on this platform 99.9% of us don’t have the guts to harm each other. We may insult each other endlessly, accuse each other but that’s where it ends. But you see those out there, they are driven by violence and the sooner we refocus our attention on them, the better.

Show me the picture or video of any of us here who have been calling for reprisals and retaliation actually engaging in these acts and win a trip to Maldives??
