Berom militia allegedly killed a 40-year-old Fulani herder, Abubakar Hababe, in Riyom LGA of Plateau State on April 5 in what is believed to be a reprisal attack amid escalating violence in the area.

Troops responding to a distress call between Tanjol and Rim communities found his body in an open field. Community sources linked the killing to earlier attacks, including the recent murder of two miners in Rim village by suspected Fulani bandits.

The incident is part of a growing cycle of retaliatory violence across Riyom, Barkin Ladi, Mangu and Bokkos LGAs, involving killings, cattle rustling, destruction of farmlands and attacks on herders and miners.

Security has been reinforced across affected communities, while authorities urged residents to avoid reprisals as investigations continue.
