VIRAL VIDEO ALLEGING TERRORIST ATTACK IN ABUJA: CLAIM FALSE AND MISLEADING
…as CP FCT orders forensic analysis to identify and apprehend its originator
The attention of the Commissioner of Police FCT Police Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi PhD., fcai., has been drawn to a false and deceptive viral video circulating online alleging that terrorists are advancing on Abuja, with gunshots reportedly “raining heavily” within the Federal Capital Territory. The FCT Police Command wishes to categorically state that the claim is false, misleading, and deliberately designed to incite panic and misinform members of the public.
Contrary to the claims contained in the video and its accompanying narrative, there is no record of any such attack or security breach within Abuja or any part of the FCT. Preliminary findings indicate that the gunshot sounds heard in the video were edited from an unrelated source and superimposed on footage of an unidentified location showing buildings under construction, with no verifiable link to the Federal Capital Territory. The Commissioner of Police has ordered a detailed forensic investigation of the video’s digital trail to identify and apprehend its originator for possible prosecution under extant laws.

The Command strongly cautions content creators against the dissemination of false content capable of causing fear, panic, and public disorder. The FCT Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and maintaining public confidence through accurate and timely information.
Members of the public are advised to ignore and refrain from sharing such false content as they are created to cause panic in the minds of FCT residents for their own mischievous intentions.

Police Public Relations Officer,
FCT Police Command,
