The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced plans for a 4,000-kilometer high-speed rail network linking Lagos, Abuja, Kano, and Port Harcourt.
The project is structured to be financed through partnership with the Asian Development Investment Bank and will leverage Nigeria’s natural gas reserves as a key energy source, reflecting a commitment to utilizing domestic resources for sustainable infrastructure development.

Upon completion, the rail network is expected to generate long-term economic opportunities, drive large-scale job creation, and strengthen Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global economy. By prioritizing African expertise and resources, the initiative represents a deliberate step toward a self-reliant and homegrown model of development.
