HOLY GHOST CATHEDRAL PARISH IN ENUGU BLOCKS CONTROVERSIAL TINUBU–MBAH ENDORSEMENT RALLY
The Catholic Diocese of Enugu has rejected the use of Jubilee Hall at the Holy Ghost Cathedral Parish in Enugu for a planned political endorsement rally, triggering widespread attention over the proposed event’s collapse.
The planned gathering was reportedly intended as a “Historic Endorsement Rally and Adoption Ceremony” in support of Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu and Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, scheduled for July 3, 2026.
However, in a firm statement released by the Diocese through its Communications Director, Rev. Fr. Anthony Aneke, the Church clarified that no permission had been granted for the use of any ecclesiastical facility for partisan political activities.
It emphasized that the Holy Ghost Cathedral Parish, including Jubilee Hall, is not available for political rallies, endorsements, or campaign-related ceremonies, stating that such use contradicts diocesan policy.
