The International Criminal Court (ICC) has expressed concern over Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger’s decision to withdraw from the court, warning that the move could weaken efforts to combat impunity. The three military-led West African countries accuse the Hague-based court of being a tool of “neo-colonialist repression.” The ICC’s governing body said the withdrawals could undermine efforts to hold people accountable for war crimes and crimes against humanity. The ICC currently has 125 member states, though major powers including the US, Russia, China, India, and Israel are not members.
