BREAKING: Niger State Governor Umar Bago has removed all Fulani district heads (traditional rulers) across the state and replaced them with chiefs.
According to the governor, the decision was driven by the increasing wave of kidnappings. He claimed that many victims who regain their freedom after paying ransom have identified Fulani individuals as being involved in their abductions.
Governor Bago also alleged that whenever disputes arise between indigenous communities in Niger State and some Fulani groups, some of those involved invite relatives from neighboring countries to join the conflict.
He further raised concerns over alleged land grabbing involving some Fulani groups in parts of the state.
These are serious allegations that could have significant implications for security, traditional leadership, and community relations in Niger State. Authorities will be expected to ensure that any investigations and actions are based on evidence and the rule of law.
