In Ebonyi now, the consolation comments from Nwifuru’s people is that removing an incumbent governor is not easy. They were vehemently backing the intimidation meted out on Gov. Adeleke prior to the victory. They never cared he’s an incumbent governor. Now that the boat of the man didn’t capsize as planned by the Federal Might agents, they have resorted to a consolation cliché of the uneasiness of the removal of an incumbent governor.
Does Ebonyi even have a governor? When counting governors, do you add Francis Nwifuru as one of such governors? Have you ever heard him speak in a midst of governors? The Edo’s Monday D-7 is even a Trump Donald to Nwifuru. He’s his model. Let’s discuss another topic, please. PEbonyi doesn’t have a governor. We just have a scarecrow parading self as governor. With due respect to him as an elder brother of over 15 years, anyway.
Nobody said removing an incumbent governor was easy. It’s not easy, but many incumbent governors have been removed in Nigeria by opposition forces. Oyetola’s second tenure ambition in 2022 was truncated by Ademola Adeleke in Osun. Oyetola came back with overwhelming Federal Might through the APC candidate. Yesterday, Adeleke pummeled him again. Peter Obi knocked off Dr Chinweoke Mbadinuju in 2003 in Anambra. The election was rigged for Dr Chris Ngige. Peter Obi from the newly established APGA used court and removed Ngige after two years of fierce legal battle. In 2011, Sen. Rochas Okorocha stopped Sir Ikedi Ohakim from attaining second tenure as Imo Governor. In Edo State in 2008, Sen. Adams Oshiomhole of the Action Congress removed an incumbent governor, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor of the PDP. In Zamfara, Dauda Lawal of the PDP defeated the APC governor seeking reelection, Mattawale in 2023. The list goes on. It’s difficult, but it’s doable.
Lest I forget, congratulations to Davido! The victory is resounding. This goes a long way to mean that the power to stop election results manipulation resides with the people. If we can adopt resistance, we can fix our country and states. Rigging apparatus is strong only where it’s allowed.
