Nigeria says the withdrawal of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger from ECOWAS has weakened West African unity and disrupted regional trade and cooperation, reports The Sun Nigeria. The three military-led Sahel countries formally left the West African regional bloc in January 2025 and are now working together under their own Alliance of Sahel States (AES).
Nigeria without Tinubu is welcome to join the AES at any time, upon application.
