no gas pipeline connects the southeast! but they take our gas from abia to kano!
Do you know this injustice?
Abia State and Imo State produce enough gas to power the whole Southeast. Gas is under our own soil. But there is NO high-pressure gas pipeline that connects Aba, Onitsha, Nnewi, Enugu to make our factories work!
What is the Federal Government doing?
They are building a 614km gas pipeline called AKK Pipeline from Ajaokuta to Abuja, Kaduna and Kano. Cost: $2.8 BILLION DOLLARS
Where does the gas come from? From Abia, Imo, and Niger Delta! Investigation revealed: “The gas comes from the Niger Delta and Imo and Abia states in the South East”.
The plan is: Lay pipeline from Calabar through Akwa Ibom, Abia, Imo, Enugu into Ajaokuta to carry OUR gas to the North.
So they take gas from Obigbo in Abia, pass through Enugu, and go straight to Ajaokuta in Kogi to power the North, but leave Aba Industrial Zone, Onitsha, and Nnewi without gas!
This is why our factories use diesel at 1,500 naira per litre while Kano will get cheap gas pipeline. This is the power sharing between Southwest and Northwest we are talking about. Southwest gets Lagos pipelines, Northwest gets Kano pipelines, Southeast gets NOTHING.
Senator Victor Umeh already raised this in the National Assembly that plans to extend pipelines to the Southeast are only speculative. Speculative! After 60 years!
Abia has gas, but Aba has no gas. How do you explain that?
