This is Ammaye, she is an example of how dangerous religious extremism and mob violence can take away unfulfilled dreams within minutes in Nigeria.

Look at another tragic example of how mob violence is destroying human lives under the excuse of defending religion.
In Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State, a Muslim woman named Ammaye, a well-known food seller was lynched and set ablaze by a mob of angry Muslim youths over an alleged blasphemous remark.
How did it start? Her own nephew jokingly told her that he wanted to marry her to “fulfill the Sunnah”. She made a response during their argument that the young men around considered offensive.
Instead of allowing the law to handle the matter, the neighborhood youths got outraged. Even after the case was taken to the palace of the District Head and she was handed over to security personnel, a bloodthirsty mob overpowered the officers, beat her, stoned her to death, and burnt her body before security reinforcement could arrive.
As Muslims who respect secular constitutional laws, we in the #NDM must say the truth without fear: Mob justice is murder, plain and simple.
Islam does not give any street mob or group of angry youths the right to act as judge, jury, and executioner.
When people take the law into their own hands, they are not serving God; they are simply practicing jungle justice and lawlessness.
A state where angry youths can overpower security personnel to burn a human being alive is a state heading toward complete lawlessness.
Join us in condemning this acts because last year was Ammaye, yesterday was an Imam in Sokoto, tomorrow you maybe the one, why? Simply because of difference in understanding or interpretation.
A society that allows a street mob to substitute itself for the legal process has surrendered the rule of law to the law of the jungle.
True religious piety respects human life and constitutional order; it does not set human beings on fire to satisfy the rage of an unchecked crowd.
When jungle justice replaces constitutional process, no citizen is safe from the paranoia of the mob.
