For those under the influence of liquor (local liquor called Burkutu), calling Fulani non-indigenes, land grabbers, and others even claiming the allocation of land to the Fulani across the Jos Plateau to settle for their pastoral business should know that the history of the Plateau is far more complicated than such narratives.

The same rights that the Berom, Anaguta, Afizere, Angas, Mewagaful, Mushere and other indigenous communities have in Plateau State should also be recognised for Hausa-Fulani Muslims who have lived on the Plateau for generations and consider the Plateau their home.
Being Hausa-Fulani and Muslim should not automatically make someone a stranger in a place where his parents, grandparents and ancestors have lived for generations.

If a Berom man born and raised in Plateau State has a legitimate claim of belonging to Plateau State, why should a Fulani man born and raised in Plateau State, whose parents and grandparents also lived there, automatically be treated as an outsider simply because of his ethnic identity?

The Plateau belongs to all its citizens and residents in accordance with the Constitution and applicable laws. No ethnic group should use its historical presence to deny another community its legitimate rights.
We must therefore distinguish between historical indigene status, ancestral settlement, citizenship, residency and constitutional rights. These are important issues that should not be mixed together or manipulated for political purposes.
The history of Plateau State is a history of different peoples, communities, migrations, settlements, interactions and intermarriages. The existence of one community should not be used to e rase the historical presence of another.
The history and presence of the Hausa-Fulani on the Jos Plateau cannot be erased simply because some people do not want to acknowledge it.
