TIME IS WEALTH: THINK-HOME INITIATIVE URGES NDIGBO TO TURN TIME INTO DEVELOPMENT
UMUAHIA, ABIA STATE — The Igbo Think-Home Development Initiative (Igbo Economic Initiative) is urging Ndi Igbo to recognise time as a critical development resource and deliberately convert it into skills, enterprise, investment, stronger institutions and opportunities for future generations.
The Initiative’s message is built around a simple progression: recognise the value of time, direct it toward homeland development, and turn ideas into practical action.
Its development philosophy is captured in three words:

THINK-HOME • INVEST-HOME • BUILD-HOME
According to the Initiative, wealth should not be measured only by money or material possessions. Time, knowledge, experience, professional expertise, relationships and skills are also valuable resources that can be invested in development.
Unlike financial resources, however, time cannot be recovered once it has passed.
The Initiative therefore encourages individuals and institutions to ask a more practical question: What are we building with the time available to us?
Its proposed 30-Day Challenge calls on participants to take at least one practical action that creates value—whether by mentoring a young person, teaching a skill, supporting a productive enterprise, developing a credible project, contributing professional expertise or identifying a responsible investment opportunity.
The Initiative also places emphasis on the transition from ideas to implementation.
Under THINK-HOME, Ndi Igbo are encouraged to recognise the opportunities and responsibilities associated with homeland development.

Under INVEST-HOME, investment extends beyond money to include knowledge, technology, skills, professional experience, networks and time.
Under BUILD-HOME, these resources are expected to become practical outcomes such as enterprises, industries, employment, skills programmes, infrastructure and stronger institutions.
The approach is intended to make participation possible across different generations and economic circumstances. A young person can contribute skills and ideas. A professional can provide expertise and mentorship. An entrepreneur can create employment. An investor can provide capital. A member of the diaspora can contribute technology, networks and international market access.
The Initiative is also inviting entrepreneurs, investors, professionals, academics, artisans, innovators, community leaders, young people and members of the Igbo diaspora to submit credible development proposals for consideration.
Proposed areas include business and investment, manufacturing, agro-processing, technology, technical education, apprenticeship, research and development, infrastructure, community development and strategic partnerships.
The Initiative stresses that submitting a proposal does not automatically guarantee funding, approval, endorsement, partnership or implementation. Further engagement would remain subject to appropriate review, verification, due diligence, legal requirements, institutional authority and available resources.
The broader message is therefore one of responsibility and practical contribution.
If you have an idea, bring it forward. If you have a skill, share it. If you have capital, invest responsibly. If you have experience, transfer it. If you have time, use it productively.

The central question remains:
«“What can I build for Alaigbo?”»
The Initiative’s answer is expressed through its guiding philosophy:
TIME IS WEALTH. BUILD WITH IT.
THINK-HOME • INVEST-HOME • BUILD-HOME
AKU-RURU-ULO — LET WEALTH RETURN HOME.
IGBO THINK-HOME DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE (IGBO ECONOMIC INITIATIVE)
Economic Development • Productive Investment • Enterprise • Homeland Development
