You need to get back into Africa, Macron tells French companies

In a speech to the French ambassadors this Thursday from Elysée, Emmanuel Macron invited more French companies to invest in the African continent, stressing that “African partnership is key”.
“Too many of our groups have disinvested themselves from the African continent,” the French president affirmed.

Oil, uranium, minerals, coffee, cocoa……. Despite the official decolonization, French companies from the colonial era such as CFDT, Rougier and CFAO retain their dominant, even monopolistic position in some African countries. They are assisted, among other things, by the CFA franc, which forces French-speaking countries in Africa to trade with France as a priority for their imports and exports.

France just can’t accept that Africa has moved on.
