“To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed:
Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.
And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.”….1Peter 5:1-4

Peter was speaking to the church elders and leaders about the protocol and the demands of leadership within the body. Mind you, Church leadership and Spiritual church elders do not focus solely on a person’s age, but rather on a person’s commitment and relationship with Jesus. How aligned is this person with Christ, given their age?

Today, the Church desperately needs balanced leaders. Healthy leaders from the home to the marketplace and the altars. Church leadership must go beyond preachers and teachers to include men with proven character and Christians with administrative and management experience. Who would be committed to God’s kingdom?

The Church needs men and women of Character who would train and reproduce true leaders for the body. Men and women who are equipped to do good works for Jesus.

Not people who would club in the night or attend secret cult meetings at night, but line up for the holy communion in the church by day. While the other group are people who pride themselves on Church positions, thinking they are supporting God with their little pennies. Friends, humans are too small to sponsor the Sovereign God. He owns all of us. That’s a destructive mindset. That’s what killed the man who wanted to carry the Ark of the Covenant.

The Church should be healed and cleaned up from members who do not see immorality, stealing, of any kind, lies, arrogance, and destroying people’s reputations at will.

People who jump into social media to run down the Church and Church leaders while claiming to be Christians. These people seem to forget the words of Jesus: “Do you not know, I must be about my Father’s business?”

Friends, whenever you grow to maturity in His body, you automatically become a branch that holds another branch. For Jesus is the Vine and we are the branches. When we are accountable to each other, we will grow stronger and bear much fruit for the kingdom.

But in all of this, we must be careful of toxic leaders who are only out to take advantage of our information. Weak leaders who would listen to our concerns and pains, but rather than pray for us, they would distribute our stories and use some of them to manipulate us. Avoid people who are quick to Lord over you, taking advantage of your love for Jesus and His Church.
These people are quick to call you their spiritual son or daughter, but never bring anything into your life to build you up. Simply put, they don’t feed you but crave to harvest from you.

But in all, let us be humble enough to ask Jesus to give us Leaders who will lead us with genuine fear of God and with understanding, guided by the pure love of Jesus. Making required contributions into our lives to build us up, to enable us to bear more fruit.

As we walk into the new year, we do not have to repent our previous mistakes. We must avoid the temptation of standing alone in the body. Another temptation is to refuse to submit to any leader. It’s totally unsafe. The end-time Christian would require more than his personal anointing, prayers, and efforts to pull through. This is very important. Do not forget, every leader was once a follower.

The Church of Jesus is God’s embassy on earth. Jesus warned us never to forsake the gathering of the people of God. As we see the day approaching, let us take cover within His church and stay connected to His body to thrive.

Beloved, may Jesus prune you to bear much fruit for His Kingdom. May the Holy Spirit give you understanding.

This is your week,
-Apostle Godwin ROBINSON
