Popular TikToker @iambaashir has raised alarm in a viral video, claiming that Fulani communities across West Africa are increasingly at risk of genocide due to rising acceptance of anti-Fulani rhetoric and efforts by some to distance themselves from the ethnic group.
In the video, he stated: “Fulani people across West Africa are at risk of genocide because people are becoming more okay with the idea of genociding Fulani people, people are endorsing genocidal rhetoric toward Fulani people, and people are trying to distance themselves from Fulani people altogether. Many people don’t realise that even though a lot of the violence being perpetrated in the Sahel is being done by militant militia fighters, many of whom are Fulani, Fulani people are the main victims of this violence in a lot of situations and in a lot of areas. Most Fulani people have no desire to commit violence against groups of people, but people are drawing a one-to-one between terrorists and random Fulani people.” Watch the video in the comment section.
