UPDATE: Alhaji Adam Elduniya Shinkafi’s story is a haunting reflection of life in many part of northern Nigeria. In a desperate bid to save his brother, he paid ₦5 million, transferring ₦2 million to PalmPay account and delivering ₦3 million in cash. He even sat face to face with the dreaded bandit leader, Sarki na Aleru, sharing moments of uneasy laughter and forced calm, clinging to a promise that his brother would be freed that very night.

Thankfully, his brother, Mukhtar Elduniya Shinkafi, a former aide to Bello Matawalle during his tenure as Governor of Zamfara State was eventually released.
Now, reports indicate that Aleru has been killed in Kunchin Kalgo, Tsafe LGA of Zamfara State.
This is the stark reality in many part of northern Nigeria; where victims negotiate with fear, pay for survival and carry the weight of trauma long after their loved ones regain freedom.
NB: Below is the payment receipt and photo of Elduniya after his release.
