The Obeakpu Progressive Union South Africa has finalized the first phase of its borehole drilling project, marking a significant milestone in its efforts to provide clean water to the Obeakpu community. Water started flowing from the borehole on April 17, 2026, prompting residents to gather at the site with containers to collect the precious resource. “The response from the community is heartwarming,” noted Mr. ChukwuDubem Amaechi. “It reinforces our commitment to serving the most vulnerable members of our society and highlights the critical role water plays in our community.” The Union is set to commence the second phase of the project, which involves installing solar equipment and erecting perimeter fencing to protect it from damage. This project is part of the Union’s broader initiative to enhance access to clean water for the residents of Obeakpu and Umuaka.
