The Oyo State Government has confirmed that suspected kidnappers involved in the attack on LA School, Ahoro-Esinele, and Community Grammar School, Oriire Local Government Area, are currently trapped within the National Park corridor as security operatives intensify efforts to rescue abducted victims.

The Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, disclosed that coordinated security operations have successfully contained the suspects within the forest axis, preventing them from escaping into neighbouring states such as Kwara.

According to the state government, the swift response involved personnel from the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Civil Defence Agro Rangers, Amotekun Corps, and local hunters, all working jointly to block possible escape routes and mount pressure on the abductors.

The attack reportedly led to the killing of a teacher and the abduction of the school principal, teachers, and several pupils. One teacher was also injured during the incident before later dying from gunshot wounds.

Security agencies have since intensified patrols around the National Park, deploying multiple teams through surrounding communities in a bid to locate and rescue the victims safely.

Authorities also revealed that coordination has been established between Oyo and Kwara State Police Commands to ensure any fleeing suspect is quickly intercepted.

However, officials noted that the exact number of abducted pupils is still being verified, as school records remain incomplete, making the ongoing rescue effort more complex.

The government assured residents that security operatives remain fully engaged in the operation and expressed confidence that sustained pressure will lead to the safe release of all victims and the arrest of the perpetrators.
