Islam clearly forbids terrorism and any violence carried out in the name of religion. That’s why a lot of people find it hard to defend Usman Dan Fodio using real religious arguments.
Even the jihadists themselves when you read most of their writings, they weren’t focused on teaching proper Islam, science, or how to build a better society. Instead, almost what they wrote was just trying to justify what they did.

This one is really difficult to justify to any good Muslim. Sheikh sultan Muhammad Alwali was a learned scholar and a fair ruler he memorized full qur’an. In history, he is remembered as the man who strengthened Tawhid in Kano. He even stopped an old pagan practice called “Dirki.” When he left Kano and went to Burum Burum, the Fulani warriors followed him there and killed him.
But today, people are taught that it was the British who ki||ed him. That’s just a convenient lie. They have to blame the British because if they admit it was their own people, they will lose face in the eyes of the public.
The same thing happened when they attacked the scholars of Yandoto. How can you ki|| respected Islamic teachers just because they refused to support your violent actions done in the name of religion? They seized their books, scattered them, and burned some.
If someone says something that goes against what you have always believed, don’t rush to say they are insulting you. Just calmly ask for proof and check the facts with an open mind.
