Who Designed Biafra Currency?
Many people fovght for Biafra with guns… but one man fovght with ART.
A man called Simon Okeke from Uli Anambra State designed the famous Biafra pounds during the Nigeria-Biafra Civil W@r. He carried pencil, brush and vision when others were carrying riffles.
He designed the Biafra currency with symbols of hope, strength, and survival.
The rising sun on the notes reminded Biafrans that even after the d@rkest night, a new dawn would come.
Those pounds were not just money; they were a message to the world that Biafra believed in itself.
Imagine creating a nation’s currency while your people were under siege.
That was courage.
Sadly, okeke later d!ed in a plane cr@sh in 1969 while travelling abroad to produce Biafra’s currency. But his work never died.
Today being 30th May, we remember Simon Okeke — the artist who helped give Biafra a face before the world.
