There was confusion at a wedding ceremony in Benin, Edo State on Saturday, as a woman stormed a church during the service, seized the microphone from the pastor, accused the groom of dumping her and demanded that the wedding ceremony be stopped immediately, leaving the congregation bemused.
According to PM News, the incident occurred at the International Pentecostal Holiness Church in Benin, during the wedding ceremony between one Dele and his bride, Blessing.
The scorned ex revealed that she got to know about Dele’s wedding via a Facebook post.
The angry lady had reportedly stormed the church with some men at about 6.30am, and waited patiently till the wedding ceremony began at 12:00 noon.
Trouble started when the officiating pastor asked the congregation if anyone had any reason why the couple should not be joined as husband and wife.
The ex reportedly raised her hand climbed to the altar, seized the microphone from the pastor and shouted “no! no! this wedding will not hold.”
She told the congregation how the groom had proposed to marry her in 2017, after they had courted for seven years. She also revealed that she entered into a covenant with Dele before the church altar where he worshipped at the time.
According to her, “He (Dele) no longer picked my calls. He abandoned me. Why? What did I do to you?” The new bride was said to have later collapsed, while Dele broke down in tears.
According to a female member of the church, the groom attended the birthday celebration of his ex-lover just few weeks ago.
“Dele attended her birthday few weeks ago. It will surprise you to know that Dele was still going to see that girl at home. Why will you do such such thing when your wedding is around the corner?” she said.
