Lagos State All Progressive Congress governorship candidate, Mr. Jide Sanwo-Olu has called on his rival the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Jimi Agbaje not to break the peaceful co-existence between the Igbo and Yoruba ethnic groups in Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu was reacting to Agbaje’s tweet, where the PDP candidate quoted Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu of threatening the Igbos ahead of the 2015 election if they failed to vote for APC.
Sanwo-Olu said that the Yoruba do not hate the Igbos as been peddled in some quarters, adding that the longest serving officer of the APC in Lagos, Joe Igbokwe and the longest serving commissioner, Ben Akabueze are both Igbos.
Agbaje had reminded Sanwo-Olu that the statement of the monarch who is a member of the APC lingered in the minds of the Igbos in Lagos, adding that it is the APC that is threatening the Igbos not the Yorubas.
However, Sanwo-Olu had called on Agbaje to make his campaign an issue based rather than bringing sentiments among the various ethnic groups living in Lagos.
