After many months of speculation, the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Interior, Mr. Jagaba Adams, on Wednesday, announced his decision to dump the ruling All Progressives Congress.
He defected to the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party on the floor of the House in Abuja.
In a letter he wrote the House, Jagaba, who is from Kaduna State, informed his colleagues that he left the APC, which had placed him on suspension without end.
“The party has suspended me indefinitely.
“There is no end to it. I have been on suspension endlessly,” he stated.
Unlike before, there was no protest on the floor from the APC caucus.
The Majority Leader of the House, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, merely shook hands with Jagaba and wished him well.
But, the PDP caucus immediately went into jubilation, as some of the members embraced Jagaba and raised up his hand.
It was a minor boost for the numerical strength of the PDP.
Until Wednesday, the party had lost members to the APC, resulting in the decline in its membership from 139 in June 2015 to around 118 in December 2017.
