Omirinde’s invitation by the police is sequel to the allegations he leveled against men of the State Police command over the activities of Isikilu Wakili, a suspect who was arrested for his alleged involvement in the killings, kidnappings and attacks on innocent citizens in Ibarapa geo-political zone of the State.
DAILY POST recalls that the Police had earlier invited members of the public to supply them with evidence that can aid the prosecution of the 70-year-old Wakili.
Our correspondent learnt that Omirinde, a youth leader from Ayete in an interview published in a newspaper accused police of working with Wakili.
Omirinde alleged that complainants are often detained and bailed with Fifty Thousand Naira (#50,000.00) which has resulted in residents’ refusal to further lodge complaints on any Fulani/herders case in the area.
The State Police command has however, said that it has invited the complainant for further information on his allegations against the police.
Public Relations Officer of the State Police command, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Saturday added that the attention of the Commissioner of Police, Ngozi Onadeko, has been drawn to the allegation.
Fadeyi maintained that the allegation made by Omirinde against the police necessitated his invitation by the Police.
