A committiee on restructuring involving the Northern Governors Forum and the Northern Traditional Rulers Council has begun sitting to collect and collate views of northerners, northern groups and leaders of thought.
Sokoto state governor Aminu Tambuwal, chairman of the committee, is presiding over the meeting.
The committee is the result of a meeting of the Northern Governor’s Forum at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in July.
It is expected to key into ongoing review of the 1999 Constitution by the National Assembly and present common ground for the north.
The committee includes governors of Nasarawa, Kaduna and Gombe as members and Plateau governor is secretary.
Others include the Emirs of Kano and Zazzau, Etsu Nupe, Gbong of Jos and Emirs of Fika and Gumel.
