The House of Representatives has said that it was yet to receive any communication from President Muhammad Buhari, over the much talked about $1billion for arms purchase.
Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas, the Chairman House Committee on Media and Publicity, who briefed journalists on the matter on Thursday, said that they have read on the pages of newspapers that the Presidency was interested in bringing such communication but added that there was nothing yet from the executive on the matter.
He said that it was incontrovertible that the powers of appropriation resided with the National Assembly, and as such, there was no way the President could proceed to usurp that power.
Namdas said that the National Assembly was waiting, stressing that whenever the President was ready and come with such request, they would do something about it.
He assured that if the National Assembly got it early, it would be included in the 2018 appropriation Bill, but if not, it would be treated as a supplementary budget.
