THE SHITTU BAGGAGE ON PMB
If you are truly concerned about corruption, you wouldn’t have kept quiet over the weighty allegations of massive accumulation of wealth against the Communications Minister Adebayo Shittu by his own Media Consultant who was a direct witness to his activities in office. If these serious allegations were made against Ekweremadu, Saraki, Shehu Sani and Melaye, you would have been baying for their blood, loudly urging the EFCC to act expeditiously. But you are pretending not to take notice because Shittu is involved.
Whether you care to pay attention or not, Shittu has already become a moral baggage on the Buhari administration. Whatever may be his political value to this administration, the responsibility of protecting the credibility of the anti corruption crusade is by far greater than the perceived political advantage of keeping Shittu on board, despite this scandal. The man should be suspended immediately and the EFCC allowed to investigate him over these allegations. The fact that the Communications Minister hasn’t responded to these allegations means that the accuser knew what he was talking about in those detailed allegations.
The Attorney General has no business shielding fellow cabinet members who are facing allegations of corruption. His apathy to the Babachir scandal dampens my enthusiasm about his interest in these matters. Didn’t he exonerate Babachir Lawal initially until the loudmouthed former SGF was eventually indicted by the Osinbajo panel? As long as Shittu is not Melaye, I don’t foresee the Attorney General advising the President to take action to protect the image of the administration.
