This is a traditional ruler from an autonomous community in Akpugo, Enugu state.

His subjects lynched him and he died at the hospital.

He tried to prevent his subjects from going to hold a meeting and used his car to hit an elderly man who was among those on their way to the meeting.

Report has it that he told his driver to move the car and hit anyone on his path, his driver moved the car and eventually hit an old man.

His subjects rushed him, took him out from the car and lynched him.

He was later rushed to the Park lane hospital where he died. This is causing serious tension in the community now.

Monarch beaten to death, 15 houses burnt in Enugu

The Police Command in Enugu State has commenced investigations into the killing of Igwe Steven Nwatu, the traditional ruler of Ogbozinne autonomous community, Akpugo, Nkanu West Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s spokesman, SP Ebere Amaraizu, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Wednesday, describing the incident as unfortunate and barbaric.

Amaraizu said that the command would never fold its hands and allow the alleged perpetrators of the dastard act go scot free.
