Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has launched a scathing attack on former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, over comments allegedly comparing the late military ruler Sani Abacha favorably to members of the pro-democracy group NADECO.

In a statement that has stirred reactions across political circles, Fani-Kayode accused Obi of distorting Nigeriaโs democratic history and disrespecting the sacrifices of those who resisted military dictatorship. He described the alleged remarks as โdeeply troublingโ and โan insult to the heroes of democracy.โ

The outspoken APC chieftain insisted that NADECO members were instrumental in challenging Abachaโs regime, which was widely condemned for its clampdown on opposition voices, arbitrary arrests, and alleged human rights violations.
โAnyone who places Abacha above NADECO clearly lacks an understanding of our history,โ Fani-Kayode said, adding that such views raise serious concerns about Obiโs leadership capacity.

He went further to declare that Obiโs political ambition would ultimately fail, stating emphatically that, โa man with such beliefs can never become Nigeriaโs President.โ
The remarks have since ignited heated debates online, with supporters of Obi defending him and questioning the accuracy of the claims attributed to him. Some argued that the comments were either misrepresented or taken out of context.
As of press time, Obi had not issued an official response to the criticism.

Observers note that the exchange underscores ongoing tensions among Nigeriaโs political elite, as historical interpretations and political rhetoric continue to shape public discourse ahead of future elections.
This FFK venting his anger on Mr.Peter Obi.
