Former Jigawa Governor Sule Lamido has said northern Nigeria must โtell ourselves the truthโ to end worsening insecurity, blaming the crisis on poor leadership and moral decay. Speaking to Premier Radio Kano on Thursday, the PDP chieftain lamented that โBoko Haram members and banditsโฆ are our children from the Northโ and warned that โthe fault is ours, and we must fix it, starting from proper upbringing at home.โ
Lamido decried the politicization of insecurity, saying โsomeone says Izala, another Qadiriyyaโฆ this one says APC, another PDP, while this menace continues to confront us.โ He described the killings as unjustifiable: โSomeone can invade your home, rape your wife and abduct youโฆ Where is the power? If you cannot protect your people, the rogue simply becomes the governor.โ While backing state police with โadequate training and discipline,โ he urged northern parents and leaders to unite, warning: โWe are at a critical junctureโฆ We must wake up or face the consequences.โ
