Hon. Abdulmalik Zubairu, the representative of Maru/Bungudu Federal Constituency in Zamfara State, has issued a directive to his constituents, recommending that they withdraw their funds to purchase firearms for self-defense in light of the prevailing insecurity.
‘I advise the people I represent to take out their money and buy guns for self-defence. Whether it’s an AK-47 or any other weapon, if they know where to get it, they should arm themselves and protect their communities,’ the lawmaker stated.
This call to action by the lawmaker raises questions about the efficacy of Nigeria’s security framework when elected officials are compelled to advise civilians to arm themselves for protection under Tinubu administration.
