I commend the meeting between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria. In every thriving democracy, sincere engagement between government and respected institutions is essential to nation-building.
The Catholic Church has always played an important role in promoting justice, peace, moral values and national unity. Likewise, the President carries the enormous responsibility of leading our country through difficult economic and security challenges.
Open and honest conversations such as this create an opportunity to listen, reflect and work together in the best interest of Nigerians. Constructive criticism should be received in good faith, while the efforts of government to address our challenges also deserve fair and objective assessment.
