Igbo Think-Home Development Initiative Commends Cosmas Maduka’s Call for Homeland Investment and Strategic Economic Transformation

The Igbo Think-Home Development Initiative (Internationally Recognised as the Igbo Economic Initiative), a duly registered development institution committed to advancing economic transformation across Alaigbo, has commended renowned Nigerian industrialist and businessman, , for his patriotic call urging Ndi Igbo at home and across the global diaspora to return home and invest in their communities as a practical strategy for sustainable development, employment creation, and long-term regional prosperity.
Reacting to Mr. Maduka’s recent interview, the Initiative described his remarks as timely, visionary, and fully aligned with its developmental philosophy of Think-Home • Invest-Home • Build-Home, which seeks to mobilise indigenous capital, professional expertise, innovation, technology, and strategic partnerships for the rebuilding and sustainable development of Alaigbo.
According to Mr. Maduka, increased private investment in the South-East would stimulate industrial growth, create employment opportunities for young people, strengthen indigenous enterprises, reduce poverty, and help address insecurity by expanding productive economic activities. He also observed that establishing a modern seaport in the South-East or neighbouring Rivers State, including the possibility of developing the Ugwuta Lake corridor into an inland maritime gateway, would diversify Nigeria’s maritime economy, improve regional trade, and reduce excessive dependence on Lagos as the country’s primary commercial gateway.
The Initiative noted that these proposals reinforce the urgent need for deliberate investment in strategic infrastructure capable of unlocking the enormous economic potential of the South-East. It maintained that no region can attain sustainable prosperity without modern transport networks, seaports, industrial parks, logistics centres, technology hubs, manufacturing clusters, agro-processing facilities, reliable power supply, and efficient commercial infrastructure.
As a strategic investment, policy, and development institution, the Igbo Think-Home Development Initiative continues to advocate policies and programmes that promote industrialisation, enterprise development, diaspora engagement, infrastructure expansion, innovation, and sustainable economic growth. Guided by its motto, Aku-Ruru-Ulo—”Let Wealth Return Home,” the Initiative encourages Ndi Igbo worldwide to channel their wealth, knowledge, experience, and global business networks into projects that strengthen the economic future of their homeland.
The Initiative further emphasised that the entrepreneurial accomplishments of Ndi Igbo have earned international recognition across commerce, manufacturing, technology, finance, construction, and industry. However, it stressed that even greater progress can be achieved when this entrepreneurial strength is intentionally directed towards homeland development through investments in manufacturing, agriculture, real estate, healthcare, education, renewable energy, logistics, tourism, and digital innovation.
The Initiative also reiterated that the transformation of Alaigbo requires strong collaboration among governments, traditional institutions, the organised private sector, financial institutions, development partners, professional bodies, youth organisations, women groups, and the global Igbo diaspora. Through coordinated planning, transparent governance, strategic partnerships, and responsible leadership, the South-East can emerge as one of Africa’s leading centres for industrial production, innovation, commerce, and sustainable development.
While applauding Mr. Maduka’s patriotic intervention, the Initiative called on all stakeholders to translate advocacy into practical investment by supporting projects that create jobs, strengthen local industries, improve infrastructure, empower entrepreneurs, and expand opportunities for future generations. It further urged governments at all levels to create an enabling environment through sound public policies, improved security, and critical infrastructure that encourage private sector investment.
