ALERT: Barely two weeks to the commencement of campaigns for the all-important Nigerian presidential election billed for January 16, 2027, viral video coming out from Osogbo, the Osun State capital, yesterday, indicate that the Oluwo of Iwo, Abdulrasheed Akanbi, threatened His Excellencies Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Seyi Makinde, Donald Duke, among other 14 opposition presidential candidates never to step feet in his palace or even in Osun State for electioneering campaigns?
This latest threat reminds ardent student of contemporary Nigerian history and politics of the threat issued by Bola Tinubu’s chief thug in Lagos, MC Oluomo, during the last 2023 election in Lagos, where MC Oluomo threatened Mama Chukwudi (referring to Ndigbo) not to come out on election day to exercise their constitutional franchises if they are not voting for the ruling APC.
Against this backdrop, we once again enjoin IGP @TunjiDisu1 to immediately invite Akanbi to the Force Headquarters in Abuja, for questionings. Akanbi must be willy-nilly made to publicly retract his incendiary and violence-prone statement before it’s too late to navigate in such a calamitous whirlwind.
