Amidst threats Ugandan electoral boss, says he will not be partial

Uganda’s electoral commission chief Simon Byabakama says he will not be intimidated despite being threatened and warned against declaring certain presidential candidates winners of Thursday’s election. Byabakama says only the law and the will of voters will guide the process. The remarks follow a widely shared video in which a presidential aide claims the Electoral Commission of Uganda would never declare opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi, known as Bobi Wine, president even if he won. Byabakama says results will be announced within 48 hours of the election, as required by law.
